Woman sent flying into the air after fuel thieves drive off with nozzle still attached to pump

This is the moment a pregnant-looking woman was flung into the after the car she was filling with petrol sped away.
The woman, dressed in shorts and a pink bikini top, was filling the red car's tank when an attendant went to check the vehicle's registration plates.
Caught on CCTV, the driver of the red car appears to panic and drives away - while the nozzle is still attached to the car.

The hose stretches, before snapping, and the woman is catapulted into the air and smashes into the ground.
Appearing stunned, she scrambles to her feet and runs to the car, which then drives away - while fuel gushes out of the pumps, spilling on to the court.
The dramatic footage was captured from the Mt Warren Park Caltex on the outskirts of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, 9News MSN reported.
The number of petrol drive-offs reported to police across the state in the 2011-12 financial year almost doubled, up 6000 to almost 12,000 thefts.

Soaring fuel prices and living costs have been blamed for the spike in fuel thefts across the state.
There were on average 32 petrol drive-offs every day, with most taking place on the Gold Coast, Logan, in Brisbane City and on the Sunshine Coast, the Herald Sun reported in October.
The Australian Convenience and Petroleum Marketers Association and Motormouth estimate petrol drive-offs cost almost $200 million every year.
Serial offenders are using stolen registration plates to cover their tracks, the Courier Mail reported in September.
A BP Australia spokesman told that paper that pre-pay pumps eliminated the problem in other countries, and there were plans to roll out more across the nation.

Millionaire businessman arrested for letting nine-year-old son drive his Ferrari for a birthday treat

Scroll  down to see the video.

A businessman who was determined to show his nine-year-old son's driving talent to the world is in trouble with police - after letting him take his Ferrari F430 for a spin.
Muhammad Nizam let his son take the wheel of the £127,000 supercar on his birthday - with nobody else in the vehicle except for his six-year-old brother.
The boy drove it for several hundred metres along a private road - all filmed by his proud family, who then uploaded the footage to YouTube.

Nizam, who lives in Thrissur, India, and owns several businesses in India and other countries, now finds himself accused of allowing his underage son to drive a vehicle.
The Kerala Police have registered a case against Nizam under the Juvenile Justice Act and Motor Vehicles Act for uploading a video of an illegal act, sending out a wrong message to the world and allowing a child to drive a vehicle.

Though the police said the vehicle will be taken into custody, sources said they are yet to seize the vehicle.
The incident occurred on April 6, on the ninth birthday of the elder son of Nizam.

The geriatric 'rapist': 93-year-old Australian carried into court to face charges of raping four sisters aged 7 to 15

A 93-year-old Australian man appeared in court in Thailand today accused of raping four sisters while living in South-East Asia.
Karl Joseph Kraus had to be carried from a prison bus into a wheelchair by other inmates in order to be wheeled into the dock in Chiang Mai province, in the north of the country.
He is alleged to have attacked the girls, aged between seven and 15, in 2010.

After being arrested and bailed on suspicion of rape, Kraus attempted to flee to Burma, from where he was deported for not having a valid visa.
His lawyers are now trying to get the rape case dropped, arguing that he is too ill to stand trial.

Last month he told the Sydney Morning Telegraph, 'I'll be dead' before proceedings conclude, adding 'I've done nothing wrong.'
Kraus, a German-born Australian citizen, is suffering from an array of serious illnesses such as dementia and cancer, according to his lawyers.
However, while free on bail he was apparently seen driving around Chiang Mai and did not seem to be in poor health.
The former railway worker had been living in Thailand for more than a decade when he first met the girls he was alleged to have abused in 2008.
Thai police claimed that Kraus offered to teach the children English, and persuaded them to visit his house by offering them chocolate and money.
But the girls then told their parents that the OAP had repeatedly attacked them, and the parents reported Kraus to the police.
Officials allegedly found more than 100 child pornography images on his computer, many of which had been emailed to addresses based outside Thailand.
However, Kraus later claimed that he was told the case would be dropped if he agreed to bribe police with a sum equivalent to £10,000.

A baby and a toddler were found dead after their mother put them both in the shower and fell asleep, an inquest heard today.

A baby and a toddler were found dead after their mother put them both in the shower and fell asleep, an inquest heard today.

Miranda Hebble, who was 22 at the time of the tragedy, left her sons Lochlan and Malachi Stevens in the steam-filled bathroom at their house in Perth, Australia, for ten hours after she passed out.

When she woke up she discovered ten-month-old Malachi floating in the shower on his side with bruises on his cheek while Lochlan, two, was lying on the floor with blood coming from his mouth.

He also had a scratch on his forehead and a mark on his stomach, the court was told.

Ms Hebble had been caring for the boys at home alone while their father, Christopher Stevens, was working on a fly-in fly-out basis, the Australian Associated Press reported.

Lochlan had smeared faeces from his nappy on floors, walls and the baby's cot, spurring her to put the boys in the shower to clean them up.

She left to fetch something, closing the bathroom door behind her, but fell asleep before she could return, the inquest was told.

When she returned to the bathroom, some ten hours later, both children were dead.

Ms Hebble told an emergency services operator: 'I passed out and the plug in the shower got plugged up ... and the shower filled up ... and they're not breathing. They're dead.'

Doctors pronounced both boys dead at 2am the following morning.

Kate Ellson, counsel assisting the West Australia coroner, told the court that 'quiet' Ms Hebble had no history of mental illness or drug and alcohol abuse.

But she added that the young mother had struggled with sleep because of Malachi's restlessness.

The court also heard of a previous incident when Ms Hebble had left Malachi in a car while visiting a shop and the baby had to be pulled hot, crying and red in the face from the vehicle by police.

Ms Hebble told officers she had left him there because she was so exhausted she feared she might drop him if she tried to carry him, Miss Ellson said.
Post-mortem examinations could not reach a definitive conclusion as to how Ms Hebble's sons died in November 2008.

Drowning may have caused Malachi's death while Lochlan may have suffered exhaustion, hunger and possible hypothermia with exposure, said forensic pathologist Dr Jodi White.

Ms Hebble was comforted by family members as she watched proceedings. She and boys' father have now separated.

The inquest continues.

Sentenced to life aged 12: The Justin Bieber look-a-like jailed for helping to murder his friend's stepfather after being tried as an adult .

With his floppy fringe and sweet, angelic face it is plain to see why his teachers described him as looking like Justin Bieber's cute younger brother.
But while most children his age spend their days laughing with friends with nothing more serious to consider than their latest homework assignment, Paul Henry Gingerich is enduring an entirely different reality.
In 2010, at the age of 12, Paul, from Enchanted Hills, Indiana, was sentenced to 25-years in prison for his part in shooting dead a friend's stepfather.

While his crime was undoubtedly terrible, what is perhaps equally shocking is that despite his age, Paul was tried as an adult and is now not due to be released until he is 37.
In Indiana, under extreme circumstances, children as young as 10 can be tried and sentenced in adult courts. However it is rare and Paul remains one of the youngest ever to be tried in this fashion.
Paul's life was turned upside down on a fateful day in April, 2010, when he went from an ordinary kid, who had never been in trouble for anything more serious than talking in class and not finishing his homework, to a killer.

Paul, an older boy called Colt Lundy and another 12-year-old called Chase Williams, had planned to run away together.
But the then 15-year-old Lundy had told the other boys that his stepfather Phil Danner, would never allow it, so they would have to kill him first.
Lundy handed Paul a loaded gun and the pair crept through a window into Danner's house where they sat in armchairs waiting for him to walk into the room.

The other younger boy Chase Williams had refused to go in and had remained outside the house.
In his original police confession Paul described what happened next: 'Phil turned the corner and then he (Colt) shot him. I freaked out and closed my eyes and turned around and shot', the Sunday Mirror reports.
The court documents say Paul told police he simply went along with his older friend and didn't believe his friend was serious about killing his stepfather.
But in 2010 Paul was sentenced to 25 years in prison, for conspiring to fatally shoot 49-year-old Danner.
In December last year, the Indiana Court of Appeals threw out Paul's guilty plea and sentence, saying a juvenile court judge rushed when he waived the case to adult court.
The appellate court ordered a new hearing to determine if Paul should be retried in a juvenile court.
However it is a massive gamble because if the court decides that Paul should be retried as an adult, for the more serious crime of murder, he could be sentenced to 65 years and remain incarcerated until the age of 77.

His harrowing story is the subject of a new documentary by filmmaker Zara Hayes which is due to be aired on Channel 4 later this week.
Paul's mother Nicole said: 'I'm in disbelief with the whole thing.
'Surely if you had an adult male or female who had the brain capacity of a 12-year-old, they would not be tried as an adult.'
By all reports Paul has been a model prisoner. He attends school inside the juvenile prison five days a week, where he works hard in the hope that achieving good grades will mean the chance of a good job when he is released.
His teachers describe him as a role model and one of the best behaved children in the institution.
His father Paul Senior, said: 'I never wanted him to get off scot free. He did commit a crime and I don't want people to see him as a victim because Phil Danner was the victim in this case.
'But you can't throw a child in with adults and expect him not to get screwed up.'

American tourist faces death penalty in North Korea as government announces it will try him for plotting coup

North Korean said it will soon put on trial an American tourist they’ve accused of trying to overthrow the government.
After weeks war cries against the U.S. and South Korea, the indictment of Kenneth Bae broke a relative lull in threats and provocative acts by the rogue state.
The Democratic People's Republic of Korea has expressed rage over U.N. sanctions over a February nuclear test and ongoing U.S.-South Korean military drills, though analysts say Pyongyang's motive is to get its Korean War foes to negotiate on its own terms.

Identified in North Korea’s state media by his Korean name, Pae Jun Ho, Bae is a tour operator of Korean descent who was arrested after arriving with a tour on Nov. 3 in Rason, a special economic zone bordering China and Russia.
He is the sixth American detained in North Korea since 2009. The other Americans were eventually deported or released after high-profile diplomatic interventions, including some involving former Presidents Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter. Analysts say the North will likely soon hand Bae a harsh punishment to use him as a bargaining chip in possible negotiations with the United States.
In 2009, American journalists Laura Ling and Euna Lee were arrested and sentenced to 12 years of hard labor for trespassing and unspecified hostile acts. They were freed later that year after former President Bill Clinton visited Pyongyang to negotiate their release.

‘The preliminary inquiry into crimes committed by American citizen Pae Jun Ho closed,’ the official Korean Central News Agency said in a brief report. ‘In the process of investigation he admitted that he committed crimes aimed to topple the DPRK with hostility toward it. His crimes were proved by evidence.’
Under North Korea's criminal code, terrorist acts include murdering, kidnapping and injuring the country's citizens can lead to a death sentence or life in jail.
North Korea and the United States fought the 1950-53 Korean War and still don't have diplomatic relations.

The Swedish Embassy in Pyongyang represents the United States.
KCNA didn't say when Bae's trial will take place or what the charges were.
North Korea's state media and the U.S. government have made little information about Bae public.
But his friends, colleagues and South Korean activists specializing in North Korea affairs said Bae is a Christian missionary based in a Chinese border town who frequently made trips to North Korea to feed orphans there. It is not known whether he tried to evangelize while in North Korea.
Officially, North Korea guarantees freedom of religion. In practice, authorities crack down on Christians, who are seen as Western-influenced threats to the government. The distribution of Bibles and secret prayer services can mean banishment to a labor camp or execution, defectors from the country have said.

Heeeelp! Nigerian model has her own Naomi Campbell moment as she goes flying on catwalk

It is the moment every model dreads - taking a tumble on the catwalk in front of the fashion pack and photographers.
But at least they're in good company, with this model on a Lagos runway enduring her own Naomi Campbell moment yesterday with cameras there to catch the look of horror on her face.
The model went head over heels as she walked in platform shoes and a knee-length printed dress for Nigerian fashion house Kinabuti in front of invited guests at the Italian consulate.

The accident, proving walking up and down a catwalk is far harder than some may think, will bring to mind Miss Campbell's own fall as she modelled for Vivienne Westwood in vertiginous heels at Paris Fashion Week in 1993.

The mock-crocodile Super Elevated Gillie shoes proved to be her undoing with five-inch platforms and nine-inch heels seeing her hit the deck - later becoming part of fashion history and finding a new home in the Victoria and Albert Museum collection.

Thankfully the rest of the Carnival in the Desert show went without a hitch for Kinabuti, a Lagos-based ethical fashion label run by Italian designer Caterina Bortolussi.
If anything, the label will be pleased that the model mishap has showcased its 2013 collection designs across the world - you can't buy that kind of publicity.

Mom wore a burka to go undercover in Egypt and take back her son, 12, who was kidnapped by his father and forced to live as a Muslim .

A mother dressed up in a burka and flew to Egypt to take back her son who had been kidnapped by his father and forced to live as a Muslim.
Kalli Atteya, from Pennsylvania, put on the traditional Muslim clothing as a disguise so she could wait until 12-year-old Niko got off the school bus in the city of Alexandria.
She then grabbed his arm and moved him towards a waiting motorized cart with the words: ‘Get in.’
The boy recognized his mother by her blue eyes which peered out of a slit in the burka and without saying a word did as he was told.

The pair were taken to a safe house where they waited three weeks before returning to the U.S. as they were so paranoid the boys’ father Mohamed Atteya, who is wanted by the American authorities, would find them.
The daring rescue brought an end to Niko’s 20-month ordeal during which time his father ‘forced me to live as a Muslim, which I did not want to do,' he said.
It also cost his mother some $100,000 and countless hours, false leads and false hopes.
The story dates back to 1999 when Miss Atteya married Mr Atteya and they settled down in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania.

They divorced in 2005 because she claims he was cheating on her.
Miss Atteya’s fatal error came on August 2011 when she agreed to meet him in Egypt because his mother was dying.
Whilst they were driving along he claimed to have car trouble, forced her and her sister out of the car then sped off and left them on a deserted road outside of Cairo.

Miss Atteya, 45, hired a Norwegian company to track him down, got a local guide and refused to give up.
She told Fox News: ‘I followed him. I mean, I came really close to him several different times. (Mr Atteya) didn’t recognize me, but my son did and when he saw me for the first time, he turned pale.’

In total, Miss Atteya made several trips to Egypt and after being tipped off by a local, finally made her move and rescued her boy, who is now back in Pennsylvania with her.
She said: ‘My son told me (the kidnapping was) to make him a Muslim.

‘He said that we lack the morality and the values that their system has. And he said that Americans were so violent, he said we are a rotting society.’

Mr Atteya, 38, who speaks Arabic, English and Chinese, is wanted by the U.S. State Department's Bureau of Diplomatic Security Service for using forged documents to obtain a passport.

Jeffrey Evans, a lawyer who lobbied to have charges filed against Mr Atteya, said: ‘If there was ever a testament to the power of a mother’s love, she embodies that.

‘She persevered through some very dark times. She showed a tenacity that not many would have. She really is something special.’

Indian mother and young daughter 'gang-raped in revenge attack over son's dishonour'

A mother and her young daughter have allegedly been gang-raped by six men 'in revenge' for dishonour to one of the attacker's relatives.
Police said that the men raped the women in the Champaran district of Bihar, northern India because the mother's son had eloped with one of their sisters.
It is believed that the victims were kidnapped from Sariswa village and taken to one of the attacker's houses.

According to the police, they believed the boy's mother knew about the couple's whereabouts, but would not reveal it to them.
The couple reportedly went missing in January and have not been traced since.
A medical examination of the two women confirmed that they were raped on April 18. The police said they arrested the suspects within 36 hours of the complaint being lodged.

Rape arrests have become a contentious issue in India in the past few months, as they face accusations that they do not take the crime seriously enough.
This rape is the latest in a serious of high profile incidents that have shocked India - afive-year-old is still recovering this week from being gang-raped in Delhi.

Suspects Manoj Kumar and Pradeep allegedly held the child for three days in a rented New Delhi room before leaving her for dead.
Today a 26-year-old has also been arrested from the suburb of Gurgaon in Delhi for allegedly raping his stepdaughters, aged 7 and 14.
Another man was arrested in Puri, a town held sacred by Hindus, for molesting his 14-year-old daughter.
Sexual assaults in India have been increasing for many years, but the fatal gang rape of a woman on a New Delhi bus in December has pushed the issue to the top of the national agenda.

The mother and daughter who were diagnosed with breast cancer on the SAME DAY ..

A mother and daughter are recovering after both were diagnosed with breast cancer on the same day.
Karen Williams and her mother, Diane Leach, also underwent surgery on the same day as each other, with the same surgeon.

When they were recovering they were in adjacent wards and could knock on the wall to communicate.
Both were diagnosed in February last year after finding lumps in their right breasts.
Mrs Williams told of the moment when she and partner, Stuart Burnside, went to tell her mother she'd sound a pea-sized lump while showering.

'I told her I'd found a lump, and she said so have I. I thought she was joking.

'I went to my GP and she went to hers. I went for a mammogram a few days later and didn't realise my mum was also going. My partner Stuart saw her as we were in the queue.'
She added: 'I was showering when I felt a lump.

'I didn't like the feel of it. Straight away I thought it was cancer. I went to Stuart and said I knew I had it. I just kept thinking oh my God.

'The doctor thought it might just be a cyst and sent me for a mammogram, but I knew.'
Mother and daughter are now well on the way to recovery after their treatment at the Countess of Chester Hospital, in Cheshire.

Amazingly, their cancers were not caused by a faulty gene and were not hereditary.

‘It was a crazy situation last year to both be diagnosed on the same day and my two sisters and my dad didn’t know what to do with themselves – they didn’t know who to visit,’ said Mrs Williams, from Ellesmere Port, Cheshire.

Video: Nigerian Lady Raped And Buried Alive in Bonny Island Nigeria

"Viewers discretion is highly advised". This happened a while back in 2012, but it took me only until this morning to find the courage to watch the video. The girl was raped and buried alive by some men in Bonny Island, Rivers State. Fortunately their evil deed was uncovered by the Nigerian army. The video below shows the culprits and the JTF exhuming the corpse...

Too bad!!

Premier League footballer and beauty queen girlfriend are targeted by racists because he is black and she is white

A Premier League footballer and his model girlfriend have become the target of sickening racist abuse while trying to raise money for charity.
Vile messages were posted online about Newcastle United striker Papiss Cisse, 27, and 22-year-old Rachelle Graham because he is black and she is white.
Miss Graham, who was crowned Miss Newcastle last May, took part in a skydive from 10,000ft  to raise funds for a specially equipped ambulance and furnishing a hospital in Sedhiou, Cisse’s home town in Senegal.

But the April 7 event was attacked on a website and social media by racists who are against mixed-race relationships.

The Miss England hopeful was alerted to the website by her mother who was horrified at the language used to describe her daughter and the £9million striker who have been dating for a year.
The comments are too vile to report here and police are now investigating the abuse as a hate crime, according to the Mirror.

Miss Graham told Sky Tyne and Wear: 'It is horrific. The website targets the pair of us because I am white and Papiss is black.
'Some of it is really threatening. I don’t understand why people would say these things, especially as Papiss is such a nice guy.
'I guess we just have to ignore it and move on.'
She said the messages originated from a U.S. website 'which targets white people who are going out with black people.
She told The Mirror that she suspected the person behind that website also set up a fake Twitter account pretending to be her.
'It was made to look as much like mine as possible, using my photos and virtually the same address.
'The first I knew of it was when I started to get messages from friends responding to tweets I had not sent. This person was sending out abuse and saying I was no longer with Papiss, and would use racist terms.'
On her Twitter page Miss Graham wrote: 'Thank you everyone for your support regarding the racist website.'
Miss Graham who runs a cafe on the outskirts of Newcastle has previously spoken about her desire to help her boyfriend's charity Friends of Sedhiou.
'His agent introduced me to the man who looks after the charity and it all began from there. Ever since I won Miss Newcastle I have always wanted to do a skydive for charity and so I decided to do it for Papiss’s charity.
'With me being Papiss’s girlfriend it means it’s a lot closer to my heart. I will be helping children who are less well off than we are and it makes it all worth while.'

Fear Grips Nigeria Muslims After Threat....

From onislam.

Fears have gripped Nigeria’s Muslims after threats by militants in the country’s oil-rich delta to attack mosques, religious leaders and hajj camps on claims of defending Christianity.

“MEND surely has the reputation and means to carry out the threatened terrorist attacks,” Disu Kamor, chief executive at the Muslim Public Affairs Center (MPAC), told OnIslam.net.

“Due to this fact, we call on the Nigerian government to take the threat seriously, to publicly condemn it and make tangible efforts to protect Muslims and their places of worship.”

The Movement for the Emancipation of the Niger Delta (MEND) has threatened attacks against mosques, Muslim leaders and hajj camps “in defense of Christianity” against the militant Boko Haram.

The militant group said the attacks will start by May 31 unless the umbrella Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) and the Catholic Church order a halt.

"The bombings of mosques, hajj camps, Islamic institutions, large congregations in Islamic events and assassinations of clerics that propagate doctrines of hate will form the core mission of this crusade," MEND spokesman Jomo Gbomo has said in an e-mailed statement.

But the threat has sparked fears among Nigerian Muslims over possible attacks by the militant group.

Shakirat Abdulmajeed, spokesperson for The Criterion, an influential group of Muslim women professionals, said Muslims are genuinely apprehensive.

“The Muslim community has repeatedly denounced Boko Haram as not representing Islam and Muslims,” Abdulmajeed told OnIslam.net.

“It would therefore be most unfair for anyone to unleash violence on Muslims for what they know nothing about.”

Operating from oil-rich Niger Delta, MEND is one of Nigeria's foremost terror gangs that seeks to control the region's oil wealth.

The group, which operates in Nigeria's south - especially in oil-rich Niger Delta areas, including Lagos and Ondo, focuses its attacks on Nigerian security forces and facilities.

Boko Haram, a radical Muslim group, has escalated attacks against Nigerian security forces and churches in revenge to what it says injustice done to Muslims.

Muslims have repeatedly denounced Boko Haram attacks as running against the Islamic teachings.

“The Boko Haram violence does not discriminate between Muslims and Christians,” Abdulmajeed said.

“And since their activities are mainly in the Muslim North it is perhaps safe to say Muslims are worst hit in the mayhem.”

Serious Doubts

Muslim leaders, however, say the MEND threats do not represent the general sentiments of Christians in Nigeria.

MEND’s statements “fail to represent the sentiments of most Christians around the country” Kamor told OnIslam.net.

“(The statements) are reprehensible in their attempt to deny history of the most tragic occurrences which have claimed more Muslim lives, mischaracterized the name and message of Islam, and threatened to the very existence of the whole country.”

MEND threat has already invited condemnations from Christian bodies in Nigeria.

The Catholic Church has warned that MEND attacks could sink the country deeper into the precipice.

CAN has not yet commented on the threat, while security agencies have warned the militant group to desist.

Edwin Clark, a prominent leader from the Niger Delta, warned that the threat is aimed at causing “disaffection between the various groups in Nigeria”.

The Catholic Secretariat said any attacks on Muslims could further plunge the country to the edge.

“Any attacks on mosques and other religious places of worship will worsen the problem in the country,” Rev Father Ralph Madu, spokesman of the Catholic Secretariat, told OnIslam.net.

“So we urge MEND to drop their arms and machetes and embrace peace so that there will be a lasting peace in this country.

“All these provoked and unprovoked reactions won’t solve the problems.”

Prof Ishaq Akintola of the Muslim Rights Concern (MURIC) said the timing of MEND’s threat raises serious doubts.

“The fact that MEND’s threat is coming just when lights start to appear at the end of the dark tunnel is quite interesting,” he told OnIslam.net, referring to reports about possible amnesty for Boko Haram militants to help bring peace to the country.

“It raises more questions than answers and it is in the interest of everybody that we end this.”

Nigeria, one of the world's most religiously committed nations, is divided between a Muslim north and a Christian south.

Muslims and Christians, who constitute 55 and 40 percent of Nigeria's 140 million population respectively, have lived in peace for the most part.

But ethnic and religious tensions have bubbled for years, fueled by decades of resentment between indigenous groups, mostly Christian or animist, who are vying for control of fertile farmlands with migrants and settlers from the Hausa-speaking Muslim north.

The Moulin-Fournier family, who were based in Cameroon, were kidnapped while visiting a national park in the northern part of the country. A few days later, they were taken to northern Nigeria where they were held by members of Boko Haram who asked Cameroon to free detained members of their group before they free the abducted family. The French family returned to their country yesterday Saturday April 20th. No word yet on how they were released.

Boston bomber 'put gun in his mouth and fired after being cornered in boat' and wounds mean he may NEVER be able to be quizzed

Dzhokhar Tsarnaev is in serious condition with a throat wound and is recovering at a Boston Hospital with a throat wound. It appears now that the throat wound may have been the result of a botched suicide attempt. The claim, from CBS reporter John Miller, reveals that 19-year-old Tsarnaevmay have had no intention of being taken alive by police as they closed in on the boat where he was hiding in Watertown, Massachusetts, Saturday night.

U.S. academic, 32, gang raped in Papua New Guinea by nine armed men who hacked off her hair with a bush knife and tied her husband naked to a tree

The woman, who was conducting research into exotic birds in Papua New Guinea, was walking along a bush track with her husband and a guide when they were set upon by the gang armed with knives and rifles. They ordered her husband and the guide to strip naked then tied them to trees, before hacking off the 32-year-old's blonde hair and subjecting her to a brutal gang rape lasting 20 minutes. She has given an interview and posed for a photograph (above) saying she wanted to highlight an epidemic of violence against women within the country.

Estranged wife of would-be suicide bomber cleared of knowing about husband's plans for a terror attack that 'would rival 7/7'

Salma Kabal insisted she did not understand her husband Ashik Ali's murderous intentions, and only wanted to rescue her marriage after the couple became estranged. After being cleared of wrongdoing, the 23-year-old said she was not an extremist, proclaiming: 'I am a proud British woman who is also a Muslim.' Ali, 28, was one of three terrorists jailed in February for plotting a suicide bomb attack which they intended would be as big as the July 7 Underground bombings.

Woman snaps photo of ghostly figure on her phone (and he's wearing a bright pink Seventies style suit)

A Texan woman received a spooky surprise when she realized she'd unknowingly taken a picture of a ghost on her smart phone.
Marcella Davis of Cleveland, was trying to take a picture of her nephew outside his school when he turned away and asked her to stop snapping.
But later, when her daughter looked through the photos on her cellphone, she called her mother's attention to a ghostly apparition lurking in the background wearing a light pink Seventies style suit.

'To me, it was awesome,' Ms Davis told the Houston Chronicle. 'It's not scary to me.'
A mother of two teenagers herself, Ms Davis admits she didn't know the sophisticated ins and outs of her cellphone which is why her daughter had been showing her how to zoom in on her pictures after she took them on April 15.

Recalling the evening, she said: '[My daughter] goes, "Mom, look at this." I was like, "What?" and she showed me the picture of the ghost. You could see straight through it.'
Indeed, on close examination, a male figure in a bell-bottomed suit and a dark shirt hovers alongside a set of railings as Ms Davis' nephew turns his back on her in the foreground.

Less visible is a female standing next to him.
Unlike most people though, Ms Davis remains unphased by her supernatural discovery. Though she's never seen a ghost or heard of any encounters in her area, she told the Chronicle: 'To me, it's not something that's not normal.'

She added: 'People pass away all the time. Until you're the one who passes away, you don't honestly know what happens to you.'

To the sceptics who might accuse her or her daughter of doctoring the photo with a cellphone app like GhostCam, she insisted she wouldn't even know how to use such an app even if she had one.
'I can promise you I did not make that picture up,' she maintains.

Sex parties, a gym and a spa: Inside the prisons where Saudi Arabia sends terrorists who have killed British and American soldiers (and they even get to spend two days with their wives)

Terrorists – some of whom fought and killed British soldiers in Afghanistan - caught in Saudi Arabia are to receive 'luxury rehabilitation'.

The conservative oil rich state is hoping to steer jailed al-Qaeda militants away from religious extremism with counselling, spa treatments and exercise at a luxury rehabilitation centre in Riyadh, news agencies there are reporting.
The luxury facilities, which the country has spared no expense on providing, include Olympic-size indoor swimming pool, a sauna, a gym and a television hall.

For those who have shown signs of good behaviour, two day breaks may be granted for those who wish proximity with their wives, in special 'suites' which are part of the complex.
The program will accommodate around 3,000 prisoners in 5 centres in the kingdom but it is the new facility in Riyadh, however, which is to offer prisoners a 'taste of luxury as an incentive to moderate their beliefs'.

All the centres bear the name of the current interior minister, who lead the government’s crackdown on Al-Qaeda within Saudi Arabia following deadly attacks by the group between 2003 and 2006 in which more than 150 Saudis and foreigners were killed.
During the crackdown, many militants fled south into Yemen’s lawless southern and south eastern regions where the network formed 'Al-Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula' in January 2009 -- classified by the United States as the jihadists’ deadliest branch.

The Riyadh luxury facility covers over area equivalent to around 10 football pitches and is designed to accommodate 228 prisoners from the 'deviant group,' the term used by Saudi authorities to refer to Al-Qaeda.

Each of the 12 buildings at the flagship facility will host 19 prisoners, who will have access to special suites where they can spend time with visiting family members.
During the day, the prisoners will attend seminars on religious affairs, aimed at teaching them the errors of their ways through their misguided thoughts of jihad.

'In order to fight terrorism, we must give them an intellectual and psychological balance... through dialogue and persuasion'” said the director of the rehabilitation centres, Said al-Bishi.
He said a total of 2,336 Al-Qaeda prisoners have now been through Saudi rehabilitation schemes.
But not all Al Quada inmates who go through the program become 'converted' to their rehabilitation.
In fact, the director of the centres admits in an interview with journalists that around 10 percent of those who go through the program go back to their terrorist cells. Moreover, there have been some high profile individuals who went through it before leaving and returning to even greater notoriety in Al Quada in that region.
Furthermore, critics in the region have argued that the religious instruction given to inmates is not moderate enough and is too close to many of the jihadists’ interpretation of the Koran and too close to Al Qaeda's own views.
